Research Method
I conducted interviews with five potential users that aligned with my target audience to better understand their daily needs, habits, and preferences. Along with this, I analyzed Etsy’s marketplace for sellers that offer faith and life planners to better understand what’s currently being offered and what people could be missing.
Research Outcomes
The integration of spirituality into daily tasks makes it easy to deepen relationships with God and feel like they can find God anywhere.
"I would want a digital product so I can have it anywhere, anytime and I can make it fully customizable to reflect my needs."
Many users find it difficult to remain engaged in their studies and daily life in an effective, balanced manner that still feels true to their personalities. And when they finally do find a resource, it’s a bare bones plain idea that barely scrapes the surface of what they need. There has been a rise in the use of digital products and productivity software to make templates, cohesive planners, and study guides to keep lives in alignment.
The planner has to be customizable; no two people had the same needs, habits, and faith journey, but it was important to all that they can move and adjust elements to their liking, reflecting an overall desire for visually appealing and calm interface that was still trendy and mature.
Design Process
Based on user research and competitive analysis, I brainstormed key features and sketched initial layouts. My primary focus was on simplicity, aesthetics, and functionality. Secondary focus was anything faith related becasue I wanted it to be general enough for people of all faiths to use, but still add in mentions of faith to get people going in the right direction.
Using annotation software and Canva, I designed mockups using a soft blue and purple color palette. I digitally drew the typography and watercolor elements.

Sketch of the homescreen: pre-built sections ensure that users have a functional starting point, even if nothing was customized right away.
I conducted usability tests with 5 participants from the initial interview group. My focus group recieved early access to the template to play around with it and give me feedback on how they could see the resources and template in their daily lives in a week testing period. Feedback highlighted the following areas for improvement:
• Simplify the financial tracker interface for clarity and overview of multiple accounts.
• Add more guided prompts in the daily devotional section.
• Enhance the dream journal with symbolic interpretations and sleep tracker with an automated goal system.
Results
The end product was a comprehensive, user-friendly bible supplement and Notion dashboard tailored to Christian users, focusing on enhancing their spiritual journey, personal development, and daily organization. The dashboard integrates various features, including a Bible reading tracker, daily devotional, prayer tracker, sermon notes, financial tracker, and personal journaling tools.
The faith-based Notion template saw 20 downloads within its first month of release and received positive feedback for its comprehensive features and aesthetic design. Users appreciated the template’s bright, inviting colors and design, and the thoughtfully crafted templates to build a more intentional and fulfilling spiritual routine. One user stated it was “beautifully put together and the colors are stunning!”

Once you fill out how many chapters you've read, it fills out part of the progress line. I also included study tips and dividers for those who take digital notes on Notion. There is also a section for different prayers a person will take their time on, ranging from topics such as family, daily life and personal development, and love.

Key Insights and Reflection
The faith-based Notion dashboard has received positive feedback for its comprehensive features and aesthetic design. In the first three months, 20 users appreciated the seamless integration of faith and daily life, which helped them stay organized while nurturing their spiritual journey. Flexibility in design is not an enemy. A sandbox product is good since it allows for room for personalization by not targeting a single "ideal user".
"Beautifully put together with plenty of resources and the colors are stunning!"
If I were to iterate on this again, I’d love to explore more interactive Notion integrations, different faiths, and a guided onboarding experience for new users. I would further refine the design by introducing more accessibility safeguards and informational guardrails and adding comunity features.
